As cleaning freaks (yeah, freak, we’re ok with that word), we’ve had a gigantic stock of cleaning products in the laundry room for years. With thousands of options on the market, each one for a different purpose, you always have a stain that won’t come out, and your friends tell you to buy exactly the one you don’t have at home.
That’s why when a friend told me that it’s “the best all-purpose cleaner” she’s ever tried (and about cleaning, that’s a person I trust, their house is like an operation room), I decided to look it up because, what difference does it make? I’ve already tried everything. And I found it at the Costco near my house.
Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner — The Cleaning Find of the Decade at Costco
The first impression upon uncovering the product, I remember clearly, is that the Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner has a pleasant aroma, without that typical penetrating chemical smell that lingers in the air and makes your eyes and nasal passages hurt (if something like this happens to you with a cleaning product, be careful, because it can seriously hurt you)
The first test I did was to degrease the stove, because at home we like to cook a lot (let’s say, a lot), and since then I haven’t bought any other brand’s degreaser. It did an excellent job, comparable to the more-expensive 409, but at a much more affordable price. Beyond the kitchen, on other surfaces such as countertops or backsplashes, and even on the refrigerator door or everyday appliances, it removes grease without leaving a soapy sensation.
One Single Bottle Does Many Cleanings, Even For Years
This product is so efficient that a bottle can last a long time, since the liquid is concentrated and, if the grease stain is not very dense, or is not burned, it can be diluted with water, and it works quite well. In addition to being ideal for daily cleaning, it also works perfectly for removing stains from clothes, without damaging any surface. The spray bottle makes it easy to apply in any space.
Aside from grease, it can also be used to remove stuck-on food debris and even stains from cabinets, wood, metal, and plastic. The formula of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner is biodegradable and non-toxic, so it can come into contact with cookware, pots, pans, and more, and be washed without leaving hazardous residue for people or pets.
Other Uses for Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner
It can also be used in the bathroom, removing tartar and stains in bathtubs or toilets, leaving a pleasant and quite tolerable aroma, without being invasive. In the garage, some users have also recommended it to remove automotive oil or grease stains.
It is also indicated for use on wooden furniture, hardwood floors, but it is recommended not to use it on suede, leather, precious stones such as opals or pearls, nor to place it on mirrors or car glass. It can also remove difficult stains from carpets and upholstery.
According to the product on its bottle, the manufacturer’s recommendation is to dilute 1 to 10 (or up to 1 to 30, according to the needs), meaning that the 4-liter bottle should yield up to 40 liters when diluted in that proportion. But, there are three ways to use it, for more effectiveness:
- Heavy-duty: For full strength, use diluted 1:1 to remove heavily trapped greases or oils. For example, 1 fl.oz of Simple Green mixed with 1 fl.oz of water.
- General use: use in dilution up to 1:10. For example, 1 fl.oz of Simple Green mixed with 10 fl.oz of water.
- Light cleaning: Use up to 1:30 dilution to remove dust and fingerprints. For example, 1 fl.oz of Simple Green mixed with 30 fl.oz of water.
The package I buy at Costco is the 140-ounce (4.14L) package that also comes with a $32-ounce (946ml) spray bottle, which is priced at $10.99 ($0.06 per ounce).
