I’ve had my Tarva bed from Ikea for several years now because I like minimalism. I have a small apartment in Redondo Beach and every meter counts. I try to make the most of it and for that I have always chosen simple furniture without too many decorative trims. Before buying it, I was at Costco and found some similar options, but the prices were above $500 and $700, depending on the brand and the design, so I had to rush back to Ikea.
The Tarva bed from Ikea is timeless, simple, and fits with practically any design style, from a sober boho-chic to something more country, or with more modern lines. I remember when I put it together, I was surprised at how easy it was to assemble all the pieces. Each slat fit perfectly, and the bed is completely stable, without unwanted movements or squeaks. The wood has a very nice, natural feel, and I love how it matches the rest of my room, especially since I’m close to the beach.
The Ikea Tarva Bed Is Exactly What I Was Looking For
My Ikea Tarva bedframe is the heart of my bedroom, because it is so simple that it does not become the center of attraction but blends into the space. At the foot of the bed, I have placed a pair of Malm nightstands, perfect for keeping my books and a lamp close at hand. On top of them, I have added some small plants that add a touch of life and freshness to the space.
For storage, I have a Pax closet to put away clothes and bedding, and it also has a little space to store some shoes, sandals, and slippers. Under the bed there’s also enough room to put some bags or boxes, for out-of-season clothing and such.
One of Ikea’s Best-Selling Beds
The combination of the Tarva bed with this Ikea furniture has created a space that personally causes me a lot of peace and relaxation. The natural wood of the bed contrasts with the white of the other furniture, creating a bright and cozy atmosphere.
The Tarva bed is incredibly durable. I have had mattresses of various densities and weights, and the structure has held up even when my girlfriend stays at home, and we have two dogs of 40 pounds each, and they already know that it is inevitable that they will come up in the middle of the night.
I opted for the natural wood color version, and it comes protected by a light layer of transparent matte varnish, which allows the naturalness of the pine to be seen. But it is also available in white (not painted, but stained). The wood can also be varnished or painted in another tone freely, and will adapt to the color palette of your room without any problem.
IKEA Has Just Lowered the Price of Its Tarva Bed
If you consider the bed to be good value for money, then you are going to love the new low price, as Ikea has just announced that it has lowered the price starting in October. I bought it a couple of years ago and had paid $179, a price that had remained the same until now.
As of now, the Tarva bed is available in all Ikea stores in the United States (and to buy online) for only $149, for the Queen size (which is the one I have). If you want the King size, the price is $199, also reduced from the original price of $229. The full size used to cost $159 and is now $129.
