Dividing a one-room apartment, or a studio apartment, is kinda complicated, because they usually have quite limited square footage. It doesn’t always work to use furniture for that same reason: it takes up precious surface area, and you end up removing everything because of the feeling of suffocation it causes.
One of the most popular solutions is the use of a room divider. These elements not only help to better organize the space, but also add style and personality to a studio apartment, and create the impression that there is more than one room. In response to a client who asked us to help him decorate and divide a studio apartment, we went to the place that never fails us, Ikea, where we discovered several interesting options and one that, in fact, has just been launched.
Create Two Environments Without Losing Space
Ikea is betting heavily on last year’s trend, boho chic, a mix of the natural colors of Bohemian with touches of luxury and elegance. The Ikea Glamberget room divider meets the premise we were looking for. It is made up of three panels joined by pine wood rods, with a subtle matte varnish, which gives it a clean and minimalist touch.

The panels are made of light beige cotton fabric (which Ikea calls Katorp), adding even more to that natural and clean boho-chic style. The fabric is light and allows light to pass through, creating a cozy and bright atmosphere, working perfectly in studio apartments that have windows on only one of the walls.
Each panel has a wooden base that provides stability and prevents it from tipping over, while the legs are short, so as not to take up unnecessary space. The three panels can be rotated and folded, to generate a dynamic separation line according to the needs of your space. The price of the Ikea Glamberget Room Divider is $79.99.
Mittzon: A Versatile Ikea That Turns the Separation Into a Storage Space
If boho-chic is not the style you are looking for, you may choose to consider the Mittzon room divider can become an option for those with little space in their apartments. It has four shelves to place decorative objects, books, or plants (or whatever you want, actually), and below it has a small drawer in which you can place cables, chargers, extension cords and more so that your small space gives a feeling of organization and cleaning.

The four legs have wheels to move it easily, but they also come with brakes to fix it in one place when necessary. Like the first room divider, the Mittzon is new on the Ikea website and is now available in all stores in the United States. The price is $290.
Another New Ikea Room Divider: The Gråfjället
Now, if your problem – in addition to the need to divide the space – is that too much light comes in, and it bothers you in the morning, perhaps the Gråfjället room divider from Ikea is an interesting option to consider. The black fabric blocks sunlight from entering, so you can place it in front of your bed or in front of a window, if necessary.

Like the other room dividers, it is modular and can be folded into four parts. The price is $69.99, and it is now available in all Ikea stores. At the end of the project, our client chose the Glamberget to do the separation, and the Gråfjället for a light-blocking purpose in from of the window.
