We have officially entered October, one of the rainiest months in many US states, and it is time to prepare for these wet and cold days. This reality hit us vehemently a few days ago when we had to travel to Seattle to visit some friends, and here we are, with gray days, drizzle, and the constant threat of Mount Rainier that we don’t know when it will erupt (that’s the daily life of the Seattleites).
We were just going out for a walk when we were surprised by a freezing rain, cold as the kiss hug of a polar bear, and we were in Downtown. We took out phones and googled for winter clothing stores. The closest thing was an Urban Outfitters, and it turns out we found exactly what we needed: they were displaying several models of raincoats in their windows, so we got convinced us to go inside.
Three Raincoats at Urban Outfitters, Perfect for Fall
The first one Val tried on was this RAINS black cape raincoat, which we felt was very lightweight and comfy to wear, but at the same time is highly resistant to water and wind. Its loose, comfortable design includes a partial front closure with snap buttons, perfect for those days when you need to bundle up quickly but don’t want to look like a lock (no one knows the combination).
On the front it has two buttons on a fairly reinforced closure so that, when closed, no water enters when it rains. The adjustable hood with cap visor and drawcord ensures you’re protected in even the heaviest rain, without sacrificing comfort or vision. The polyester with which it is made is entirely PU coated, meaning that the water will pass directly through and there is no way for it to get wet. The price at Urban Outfitters is $140, and it is available in black.
A More Unstructured and Relaxed Raincoat From UO
When she left the fitting room, Val was not entirely convinced that she wanted to take only the other raincoat (and well, she had to combine several winter outfits), and the saleswoman brought us another one, also from the RAINS brand, the Cropped String model. Waterproof Rain Jacket. It is a vibrant sapphire tone that protects from water and wind with a very interesting and relaxed street style. The front zip and snap button closure gives it a polished finish, while its adjustable drawstring hood ensures protection of the nape, head, and neck.
It is also made of 100% polyester with PU coating, meaning it is completely waterproof. Unlike the previous one, it is shaped more like a loose sweatshirt, with elastic adjustment at the cuffs and a drawstring at the bottom edge to close it in case of wind. The price is $140.
Our Favorite: The K-Way Le Vrai Rennes 3.0 Poncho Rain Jacket
The epitome of audacity and daring (and this really lit up Val’s eyes) was the K-Way Le Vrai Rennes 3.0 Poncho Rain Jacket, and the truth is, we were stunned by the design of this daring and fun. I think this poncho will dominate the street when the girl puts it on. In addition to its functionality to protect almost the entire body from rain and wind (yes, rainy Seattle, I’m talking to you), the design expresses style in its entirety.
Its ultra-chic design, with zipper closure, adjustable hood and zipper pockets, guarantees a look so cool that no one will be able to look away. Best of all, this cape, despite being large, has a wide silhouette that is not only trendy, but also wraps you in absolute comfort, perfect for those days when you want to look incredible despite the rain. The price is $210, and it is in all Urban Outfitters stores, according to what the salesperson told us.
