The other day, my electric rice cooker decided to take a vacation. The problem is that they are permanent vacations, ergo, it stopped working. It was already 5 years old, and I think it had reached its lifespan. I don’t know if you have incorporated a rice cooker into your life, but it is possibly one of the most useful cooking appliances there is. I held a funeral for him and, after mourning, I set out to look for another one.
Like a good survivor of solo living, I opened my computer and started browsing Amazon, which is the supplier of almost everything I have in my apartment. And that’s how I ended up finding the best multicooker of my life: the Steamer, Grain Cooker and Multicooker from the Aroma brand, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that it is the queen of all multicookers.
The Best Rice Cooker and Multicooker I’ve Ever Had
My main trick for buying appliances (or almost everything) on Amazon is, after entering the product I am looking for in the search bar, sort the search results by showing the bestsellers first. Then, I look at the first results to see which ones have the best review scores.
It was there that I came across the Aroma digital rice cooker, which is also a multicooker to prepare an infinite number of dishes and types of food in very creative ways. My previous pot was analog (it worked with a lever that was pressed when cooking started and lifted by itself when cooking was finished), and now my Aroma pot is digital.
It has programmable digital controls, which are so easy to use that even a clueless person like me can operate it without having to call for service (or my mother: hi mommy). After each cycle, the machine automatically goes into “keep warm” mode, which means that even if I get distracted by watching memes or cooking something else, the food stays warm for when I remember I’m cooking.
It has presets for all types of rice: white, brown, steamed, instant… You name it, this cooker can handle it. It’s so versatile that you could probably cook rice while also solving your taxes (Ok, maybe not that much, but it’s close, don’t call the IRS).
Steam Cooking While Making Rice: Everything You Can Do with This Cooker
While you cook the rice below, you can cook vegetables on top, or even small pieces of tenderized meat or chicken. Rice on the bottom and juicy chicken on top? Sure, go ahead! If you are having a particularly difficult day, in a single cooking cycle you can prepare both rice and vegetables and some pieces of chicken, without fat, without oil, without frying: all in the healthiest way there is.
You can cook between 2 and 8 cups of cooked rice, which means that whether you’re cooking for yourself (because, let’s face it, eating alone is also a pleasure) or for a group of friends who showed up unannounced, you’ll be covered and everyone will have their portion.
Multitasking at Another Level and a Special Sensor
It comes with a system called Sensor Logic, which automatically adjusts the temperature so that each grain of rice is perfectly cooked, neither raw nor too soft. It also has a button that says “flash rice”; which reduces cooking time by up to 50% for those days when you have little time or are ravenously hungry.
Other things you can prepare are, for example, a chilli with meat and beans, oatmeal with fresh fruits, or even steamed tamales. The lemon fish is fantastic, and the hard-boiled eggs are cooked just right. What’s more, you can use the steaming of this multi-cooker to prepare cornbread or flan, on the top tray.
The price of this fantastic pot on Amazon is $29.92, although I paid $32.99: that discount is possibly temporary, meaning it may soon return to its regular price. It’s “very versatile”, and “a great product”, as some other customers have commented on this 5-star multicooker.
