Pumpkin season is here, and with it, my girlfriend and I are caught up in the frenzy to try everything that comes on the market each year with this unique and characteristic flavor of the season. To start, the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is a must-try, and it is one of the most iconic of the season. How about Pumpkin Spice Oreos? God knows I love Oreos and these pumpkin ones are one of my favorites (I couldn’t survive the Coca-Cola flavored ones).
Ben & Jerry’s also launches the Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream for this season, and we cannot miss the Green Jay Gourmet Pumpkin Butter in the pantry. But I recently discovered a wonder at Aldi that costs just a fraction of the price of better-known ones and that is now screaming my name from the refrigerator.
Aldi’s Happy Farms Creamy Spreads You Must Try
Happy Farms is an Aldi own brand, which means it is an exclusive brand that you will find only in their stores. As such, the retailer does not waste money on an expensive advertising and distribution platform, so the price of these products is much lower than other competing products. And although they are products at affordable prices, Aldi strives to maintain good quality in its own brand products, and in all honesty, I can say that this is indeed the case.
I recently discovered several products from Happy Farms’ fall season, among which the pumpkin spice cream cheese stood out, which I had quite low expectations for but which surprised me, luckily. It is made with pasteurized milk and cream, pumpkin, quality cheese cultures and a blend of seasonal spices.
When tried with toast, it has a fairly creamy and smooth base, slightly sweet, with very subtle and non-invasive notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. Although the flavor of the pumpkin itself is subtle, it is quite noticeable that, combined with the spices, it will create a feeling of warmth and comfort, similar to that experienced when eating pumpkin pie. The price in Aldi stores is $2.55 for an 8-ounce jar.
Intrepid Flavors — The Salted Caramel Cream Cheese by Happy Farms
When you open the container of Happy Farms Salted Caramel Cream Cheese, you immediately taste the slightly sweet and tempting salted caramel flavor that invites you to dip a spoon into it. The first impression on the palate is the characteristic creaminess of cream cheese, soft and unctuous, which melts in the mouth, while as you taste it, the sweetness of the caramel begins to gently unfold on your taste buds.
This bold flavor is elevated by the contrast offered by salted caramel. The salt, in just the right amount, would balance the sweetness of the caramel, adding a depth and complexity to the flavor of this cream cheese that, in my opinion, is almost gourmet quality. The price for the 8-ounce tub is also $2.55 and you can find it exclusively at Aldi.
Two Seasonal Products From Land O’Lakes You Can’t Miss
If you’re craving a fall flavor, but you’re not in the mood to bake a complicated pie, all you have to do is defrost a bagel, cut it in half, put it in the toaster for a couple of minutes, and uncover this Land O’Lakes Pumpkin Pie Spice Spreadable Butter. The combination of butter, with its richness and creaminess, along with warm spices and subtle pumpkin flavor, gives it a unique flavor that only this historic American brand knows how to make.
When spreading this product on a bagel, a piece of bread, an English muffin, or even a pancake, you would feel a soft and creamy texture, characteristic of butter, but with a lighter touch thanks to the spices. The initial flavor is slightly sweet and spicy, with a predominance of the spice mix that is elevated by the brown sugar that is part of the ingredients. The price for the 6.5 ounce tub is $2.95 at Aldi.
The last of the products that we buy at home during this season is the classic Land O’Lakes Honey Butter Spread, which takes me back to my childhood when my mother bought me this butter as soon as autumn began. It is a delicious combination of the creaminess of butter and the sweetness of honey that creates an almost creamy sensation in the mouth with light notes of nuts. The price is $2.95 for a 6.5 ounce tub.
